Isla
Multi BIS, RBIS GCh Conquerer Steadmor Cheap Trick SDHF
#1 Golden Retriever All Systems & #7 Sporting Dog in Canada 2015
Reserve Winners Bitch at the Golden Retriever Club of Canada’s 2013 National Speciality, under world renowned Breeder Judge Henric Fryckstrand (Dewmist Golden Retrievers, Sweden).
Maritime Golden Retriever Club Speciality, Best of Opposite Sex in Sweeps under Judge Melanie Conrad.
Halifax Kennel Club all breed Winners Bitch for 5 points to finish her Championship under Breeder Judge Wendy Schira (Butterblac Retrievers).
Isla is one of those once in a lifetime dogs, at only a few weeks old she showed that special spark. Little did we know just how far she would go!
2013
As a Junior puppy Isla was shown only a couple of times with professional handler Colin Brownlee. She was never out of the ribbons, and managed to pick up 6 points towards her Championship in that time.
After taking a few months off, we made the trek to the Golden Retriever Club of Canada’s 2013 National Speciality, the Maritime Golden Retriever Club 2013 Speciality and Halifax Kennel Club all breed dog show in September.
It was an amazing weekend with Isla being awarded Reserve Winners Bitch at the GRCC National under Breeder Judge Henric Fryckstrand of Dewmist Golden Retrievers, Best of Opposite Sex in Speciality Sweeps under Judge Melanie Conrad, Reserve Winners Bitch at the MGRC Speciality under Breeder Judge Howard Falberg of Westmont Golden Retrievers, Reserve Winners Bitch at the HKC all breed under Breeder Judge Ainslie Mills of Oriana Golden Retrievers, and Winners Bitch (to finish) at the HKC all breed under Breeder Judge Wendy Schira of Butterblac Retrievers. All of these wins were Co-Breeder/Co-Owner handled by Jacqueline Morasco (Steadmor Golden Retrievers).
2014
After taking a few months off, Isla was brought back out to try for her Grand Championship in June of 2014. Her first weekend out with professional handler Colin Brownlee, Isla wins Best of Breed two out of three days and ends the weekend with a Group 1st!
Isla’s next weekend out she won back-to-back-to-back-to-back Best of Breeds to finish her Grand Championship in only 6 days as a special.
Selectively shown the rest of 2014, Isla was rarely defeated for the Breed and managed to pick up several more Group placements, finishing the year as the #9 Golden Retriever in All Breed Points and the #5 Golden Retriever in Breed Points.
2015
As the 2015 Show Season started we decided to bring Isla back out, to hopefully finish her Golden Retriever Club of Canada’s Show Dog Hall of Fame (GRCC SDHF) title.
In only a few weekends Isla had finished her GRCC SDHF title, picking up multiple Group 1st’s and a Reserve Best In Show.
Isla quickly climbed up the ranking ladder and we decided to keep showing her as long as she enjoyed it (and those that have seen her at the shows can attest, this girl was born to be a show dog, she has fun from the moment she wakes up).
Throughout the year Isla was awarded many notable wins under judges from around the world. She was awarded her first Best In Show under Sporting Dog Authority Honey Glendinning at the Grey-Bruce Kennel & Obedience Club, handled by Colin’s assistant (and Isla’s #1 Fan) Nadine Livingston-Bourgouin.
Just six short days later Isla is awarded her second All Breed Best in Show under judge Avery Gaudin at the Temiskaming Kennel Club shows.
Isla’s third Best In Show was awarded just a few months later at the Trillium Dog Fanciers show under respected judge Dr. Steven Keating from the USA, once again handled by Nadine Livingston-Bourgouin.
Isla ended 2015 as Canada’s #1 Golden Retriever in both All Breed and Breed points, and the #7 Sporting Dog. We couldn’t be more proud of her!
